Mr. McFarland is President and Chief Executive Officer of Pennsylvania Trust. He leads the management and strategic direction of the firm and is a member of the Management Committee. Mr. McFarland also serves as a portfolio manager where his duties include client-level investment management and security selection. Mr. McFarland was named one of the “Best Personal Wealth Managers in the Philadelphia Area”, as published in Philadelphia Magazine November, 2009 and 2012.
Prior to joining Pennsylvania Trust in 1998, he worked as a trial attorney for 14 years at several prominent Philadelphia area law firms including Saul Ewing and High, Swartz, Roberts & Seidel where he headed the firm’s personal injury group.
Currently, Mr. McFarland serves on the Board of Directors of the Mann Center for Performing Arts, where he is a Vice Chair and a member of its Governance Affairs Committee. Additionally, Mr. McFarland serves on the Board of Trustees of the St. Andrew’s Society of Philadelphia Foundation where he is a member of its Scholarship Committee (and past Chairman). He also serves as a capital campaign co-chair for The Haverford School.
Mr. McFarland is a past President of the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church Foundation and also served on the Board of Trustees of the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. Mr. McFarland additionally served as a capital campaign co-chair for Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Board of The Bryn Mawr Hospital Foundation and was Chairman of the Board for three years. Mr. McFarland also is a former member of the Board of Trustees of The Haverford School, where he served on the Executive Committee. He is a past Vice President and Director of The Timothy School, a local school serving the needs of children with autism and pervasive developmental disorders.
