Last month, we hosted the inaugural PTC “INSIGHTS FOR WOMEN” program. The evening’s theme, “On Our Own”, focused on unexpected loss and resilience. Our featured speaker was Ryan Manion, sister of the late Travis Manion and head of the Travis Manion Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting veterans. Ryan delivered key themes from her recently released book entitled “The Knock At The Door” including messages of empowerment and inspiration. 55 clients and friends joined 16 female PTC colleagues for a total of 70 women who were present that evening. Nan provided opening remarks about women “on their own” and Ryan followed with her inspiring personal account of loss and resilience. It was our colleague, James, who suggested that Ryan be our featured speaker. James knew Ryan’s brother Travis when they were students at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. Copies of the book were signed and given to each guest along with a pair of “readers” glasses for women who may be “looking at life through a different lens.” The goal of the event was to raise awareness of Pennsylvania Trust among this group of women who may have a need for our services.
